All adults in Australia have the right to elect representatives to parliament... In Britain in 1838, things were very different. A group of people called the Chartists presented a petition to Parliament asking that working men be allowed to vote. But The People's Charter, as it was called, was rejected. In 1842 they tried again. This story is about Ben and his father, both of whom work in one of the factories in Britain.
